Society’s Disability

Disabled is not unable.

Lack of accommodation,

Barriers to growth,

Discrimination,

Prejudice, bias, stereotypes,

Intolerance and bigotry

Are society’s disabilities.

For individuals with disabilities,

Their greatest obstacles

Aren’t their disabilities;

Their greatest obstacles

Are society’s disabilities.

We cannot accommodate the majority

And discard the minority.

We don’t have a person to waste.

Individuals with disabilities are

Casualties of chance;

Let them not also be

Casualties of society.

We need to protect the rights of the minority

From the discriminatory will of the majority.
