Peaks of Colour. This piece is a representation of how the artistic beauty of nature is seen through a geoscientist’s eye. Referencing geophysical topographic maps, this piece was created to display Great Pond Mountain’s (Maine, USA) elevations in a modern, psychedelic lens. The hypnotizing bands of colour represent 20ft differences in vertical height when the mountain is viewed from a bird’s eye perspective. The graduality and boldness of colours were achieved through the use of watercolour pencils and digital enhancement respectively.
